“Instant Message: #42: Looking Back ... to the Future (of Everything) on Apple Podcasts.” Apple Podcasts, Wall Street Journal, 16 Aug. 2019, podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/42-looking-back-to-the-future-of-everything/id1437223143?i=1000447027951. Wall Street Journal held in May a technology festival called the Everything Festival, which featured the potential future of the world integrated with modern advancements. One of the main topics was how social services balance with real-life communication. For example, competing social business platforms like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and email call for our attention and care. The co-founder of Slack stated that people have stopped using email as much as more convenient services have arrived like direct messaging services such as SMS, but consumers continue to use email for people seldom contacted or outside their workplaces. Regarding balancing life, different creators have developed their software in a variety of ways ranging from the default being designed to keep one always connected to work to others designed to make one unreachable outside of work hours.
Another area of communication is with an app called Houseparty, which strives to create an ideal video chatting experience of speaking with each other as if they were in person. The goal is to make conversing not feel as an interruption but as a pleasure– even if it is only for a few minutes. Within the app, people are noted as being at home and different groups of people being categorized as different rooms. Direct messages are labeled as notes to discourage using them as a form of constant communication. After listening to this podcast, I found the ideas and arguments included to be logical. I believe that work consumes the lives of many people. As a son of a father who spends most of his time at work, I know how hurtful his distance can be to my mom, my siblings, and me. In Exodus 20, the Lord commanded the Israelites to take off from work the Sabbath day (now Sunday) to spend time with God and family. Being unreachable to work-related issues outside of your schedule is a great way to focus on relationships with your family members. In cases when family members and friends are distant, I like how Houseparty works to bring the people we love closer together by creating a personal environment. Throughout history, God has given us ideas to invent to make life easier but in other ways more difficult. With modern technology, it is easier than ever to communicate when distant yet harder when in person. Through these inventions inspired by humans made in God’s image, may the Lord use them to bring families closer together as they seek Him! COMMITTING TO GOD’S GRACE AND LOVE, Jeremiah Yonemura

At the time of the recording, the Democratic Debates had already started to narrow down the candidates by increasing the necessary requirements to two percent support in the polls and increasing the number of individual supporters. By increasing the requirements, only six candidates qualified to for the debates, which caused people to wonder whether the CNN debates would only be one debate with all six people or two debates with three people. Another concern was about the questions and the interactions. Throughout the summer, people have worried about the whether the questions would be challenging and unique or the same and predictable. Reporters have said that they want topics to be across the board instead of only the usual healthcare, immigration, global warming, and anti-trump queries. For interactions between candidates, concerns and wonderings about attacks and towards Biden, Warren, and Sanders have spread around how it would affect the polls. I personally think that cutting so many people this early is stupid and uncalled for. While I don’t agree with any of the candidates, I think that they should all be able to join the debates because forcing any candidate out of the debates this early means that their campaigns are practically over. Proverbs 31:8 says to speak for those who can’t speak, and the debates enable those to get their voice out there who otherwise wouldn’t. However, the Democratic Party does have the choice on who they allow to enter the debates. On Truth and Love Ministries, I will not let heresy be published in a blog post or YouTube video. Likewise, the Democrats can do the same and restrict who they want from speaking if it is not discriminatory. 6/28/2019 Comments Protecting America – June 24, 2019: Trump Vows To Tighten Iran Sanctions; Bioethicist On His Struggle With Opioids“June 24, 2019: Trump Vows To Tighten Iran Sanctions; Bioethicist On His Struggle With Opioids - Here & Now.” Google, NPR, 24 June 2019, play.google.com/music/m/D2mx2jdx4cozgharrvtvwx5lqau?t=June_24_2019_Trump_Vows_To_Tighten_Iran_Sanctions_Bioethicist_On_His_Struggle_With_Opioids-Here__Now. President Trump and the United States have been working to protect our country in a couple different areas. President Trump has tightened the already tough sanctions on Iran after being attacked. As a result of the ban, Iranian leaders have lost access to tens of billions of dollars in financial institutions like banks located in the United States. News reporters have assumed that increasing these sanctions have been an attempt to negotiate with Iran, but according to Vice President Pence, no such contacts from Iran have happened yet. After a while of threatening mass deportations, President Trump has backed down from his immediate action to give Congress two weeks to change immigration laws. The President’s motivations are to fix the border crisis and have ICE go after families that have skipped mandatory court dates and illegal immigrants who have not left the country after being ordered to do so. After listening to this podcast, I support decisions of the Trump administration to act. With Iran threatening us with military attacks, I believe that we should be tougher on Iran to show them that we are serious in protecting our country. I think that the United States should wait and see what happens in the situation. If Iran and the United States make peace, then the new sanctions should be removed or at least loosened. At this point, we should also be ready to go to war at a moment’s notice. I also agree with the President Trump pressuring Congress to pass laws that tighten and more closely regulate the flow of migrants at the border. While the United States accepts many immigrants into our borders, we need to restrict the numbers of people that just walk right into our country because it isn’t fair to those who work hard to get into our country legally or those who face death because of the criminals that cross being unchecked. God calls us to work and receive the labor of what we earned except for the tithe. Illegal immigrants steal time from legal immigrants by slowing down the process and jobs from citizens and legal immigrants; and murderers and traffickers takes the lives of the legal citizens here. According to God, theft is a crime. With these crises, it is important that we protect ourselves but also trust in God. We must pray for our leaders to make the right decisions regarding these issues. When we trust in God, everything falls into place as we make the right decisions. As we pray to God for wisdom, He will lead us in how to protect our country but still take care of those who need help. Since God has called us to care for the immigrants, we should help those who come into our country legally but not reward those who run into our country and avoid the due process of the law. Let’s protect the United States of America so that we can truly help others now and in the future and prove that we are truly “one nation under God.” 6/23/2019 Comments Voices - 2020 Vision Episode 10“2020 Vision Episode 10 - Boston Herald Radio.” Google, NPR, 18 June 2019, play.google.com/music/m/Dln4dnv5gswt2oeqwyccmpnbo3m?t=2020_Vision_Episode_10-Boston_Herald_Radio. With the 2020 election approaching, twenty-three Democratic candidates so far have entered the race in an attempt to beat the incumbent President Donald Trump next year. In preparation for this, the Democratic Party has scheduled its debates but with strict rules and Fox News being disallowed from holding any of the Democratic debates. With tough standards to meet, the Democrats have not given certain potential nominees the chance to discuss with their opponents.
After looking at the Democratic Party’s debate platform, the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) has chosen to give everyone a chance to present in front of their members for twenty-five minutes at five different locations. Questions have been chosen that will cover various important issues unlike the Democratic debates, which have been thought to be more on bashing President Trump. While the Democratic debates have had requirements to be involved, the AARP forums have only mandated that the candidates have a campaign presence in Iowa. The Democrats have also changed the way the caucus works. Instead of only being able to vote while present, voters will be able to vote from home through the phone. However, tele-caucusing voters will only count as ten percent of the results. I like how AARP is giving others the chance to speak. While the Democratic Party is not obligated to give everyone a voice, they should let the least popular Democratic candidates participate in the first debates to give them a chance before narrowing it down. I also think that a debate only bashing President Trump is superfluous and being neglectful having a broad variety of topics discussed. As far as the Iowa caucus change goes, giving tele-caucusing only ten percent worth isn’t truly representative of the population. If people don’t want the Iowa caucus experience ruined by everyone tele-caucusing, it shouldn’t exist. It’s just not fair to give people an unequal representation. The Democratic Party is going to have a ride as we approach the 2020 election, and preparation to attempt to prevent the President from reelection will start in 2019. To prepare for this, debates are happening to ineffectively bash President Trump, and the AARP is working to make a more rounded forum to make the candidates more open. The Democrats will work intensely to break turn eight years into four, and a lot of it starts in the debates. Recently, people have been putting a huge focus on God’s creation regarding our social interactions, science, and the environment. Whether God is mentioned or not, His creation is the focus of everything in the podcast to which I listened this week. From abortion to animal rights to nature, this NPR podcast focuses on legal, moral, and statistical status on current events. As one looks at the topics focused in the podcast, he will see a generally balanced political point of view of the latest news topics and that all spirited life (animals and humans) deserve decency as God’ creation. In the San Anita with the burning heat, horses have been dying recently with a current record of twenty-nine horses this season because of the heat. Many of the horses have been put to sleep due to already pressing health issues. Due to all the controversy, people have been pushing for the end of the season early, but San Anita has been fighting against this. Much of this is in comparison to Europe’s countries having stricter laws decreasing deaths by several percent. While animals are not humans, they do deserve some decent respect. I believe that the season may be at its time to end early instead of carrying on for the last couple weeks. I agree with the push to create stricter rules but not laws. The government should interfere as little as possible, but the league or track should create its own rules about the horses that can race based on how they are treated. Recently, specific Democrats in Louisiana have been fighting to make abortion illegal. With their support to prohibit abortion after six weeks, they have received much hate and refusal from local Republicans. As much as I don’t like the Democratic Party, I do agree that we should work together where there is common ground. Psalm 139 explains how God puts people together in the womb, proving that these fetuses are still alive starting at conception. Since both Republicans and these specific Democrats (most are okay with abortion) are against abortion, they should fight for this law to work towards the goal of all abortions illegal. Humans and animals have rights. While animals have rights, they should not have the same respect as humans because humans are made in the image of God. As we continue into this summer, let’s stand up for decent animal respect with human life being priceless. After examining this podcast, I found out about more work to respect God’s divinity of creating human life and the importance of taking care of God’s creatures.
